After not knitting a single stitch last week, I pick up my needles and made a decision... I love knitting baby stuff, I do. I love those wee little goodies, so that is what I am going to knit. Since my future holds postpartum doula work, why the heck not add a special treat for my clients... hand made baby goodies: socks, sweater vest, hats, maybe a blanket? I think it is a good thing. So, on that note, on the needles is a
pebble vest knitted in a 50% silk, 50% wool blend. It is a lovely yarn, so smooshy soft. I do realize that future projects (once my stash is used up) will have to be a bit more mama friendly yarn... unless the mama is a knitter herself and won't mind handwashing a wee silk and wool pebble vest. The other yarn is a great cotton that I will be making in to at least a pair of baby socks, maybe more than one pair depending on how it goes.
I am reading "Simplicity Parenting" again. Such a good book, and I am feeling I need the reminders again.

I am in love with that book. I realized that I grew up on many of those principles but mostly because we didn't have the money for all the extras. I'm so grateful. I too revisit that book and a few others (which you recommended) every now and then. I help that it re-centers me with what's important and helps me to restore my patience.
best!
Such pretty colors in your yarn...sure to make a new momma happy. :)
I love the colours of your yarns - look forward to the finished project

I keep thinking about reading that book, maybe I should pick it up! I love baby projects... so small and quick. Well, quicker than adult projects anyway. :) I'm working on baby leg warmers right now.
I keep thinking of doing knitting for birth doula clients, but never get around to it!

Lovely yarn, I look forward to seeing the finished vest. I love that book too I have only recently read it for the first time but I am sure it is one that I will read again in the future.
I think that's a wonderful idea!

love the pebble vest!
silk and wool mix yarn sounds perfect and super-duper soft on baby's skin!
What a beautiful gift!
I love the Pebble vest. I think that's a great way to market your doula skills- tell your clients that they get a free pair of handknit booties along with your services! :)
