Monday the boys and I went to Portland and met with some of the homeschool group at Evergreen Cemetery to do some rubbings of the headstones. It took us awhile to find everyone, so while we wandered around the cemetery the boys rolled down a hill, listened to hear if anyone was trying to get out of their grave and looked at the amazing fall colors. There was a duck pond at the far end of the cemetery which Rowan really enjoyed, nothing beats looking at the ducks when you are 2.

What to do when it is cold out?!
Well there is always the nap, which a nice way to pass a cold and lazy afternoon (of course this is after daddy spent the morning cleaning everything!)... the kids and I had other plans, like making candy apples, and baking cookies. Then there was the crafting, knitting, coloring and marble run building. There was also much mulled cider sipping and sitting around the propane "wood" stove. And we ended the day with a big pot of potato soup with egg drop dumplings (made with loads of butter and cream). There were also long phone call to friends in far off Arizona where it is still over 100!
Felting wool
Cae, Rowan and I have been working very hard on a felted wool pumpkin project I am doing for a crafting group I am in called "Bits 'o' Goodness". I have been wanting to try this project out for awhile, but was worried about messing it up. The swap I am in is for a fall nature table, and what is more autumny the pumpkins? So we had to give it a go. With the help of Cae, Row, an egg gourd, and the drier we made 5 felted pumpkins and ten felted acorns. It took about 5 days to make them all, but the boys were right there with me hands in warm soapy water quishing wool about. I think the turned out really well for a first timer!

Out and about on Wednesday
We had a very busy Wednesday... took the boys to Westbrook for a mad science homeschool class and then we went to the Children's museum in Portland and then Logan went to a writing class thru the Telling Room ( http://tellingroom.org/ ). All this while it rained and the wild wind blew. It was really a fun day. We came home to a steaming crockpot full of chili beans and nice hot cornbread (made by daddy). Maybe I will finish off the day with a nice batch of chocolate chip cookies? Hope your Wednesday was fun and busy.
