In the winter book basket...

It is time to change over, releasing fall, and embracing winter. The little boys love these stories and they are all the more special when they stay tucked away until the season is just right. All of these stories have a nice bite of winter in them, they are great to read cuddled under a blanket near a fire with a nice warm cookie in your hand. Enjoy your winter reading!

What we have been up to

There has been lots of playing going on here; block building, game playing and just hanging out. The weather is getting colder, and we have had a few rainy days (and I mean day... the whole day it has been raining). But we sit in the den with the propane stove and stay warm. I bake cookies and we watch movies and it is all nice and cozy.

Much Ado About Nothing...

BHS Players finally had their four performances of "Much Ado About Nothing". They were amamzing. Such stage presents, such comedy. The set was perfect and the costumes were fantastic. And, as with any Shakespeare play it is so much better when you see it then when you read it. The kids looked like they were having a great time. And, of course Audrey looked lovely!

Leaves, leaves and more leaves part 2

Who needs a pool when you have a huge pile of leaves?!

Leaves, leaves and more leaves part 1

We have about ten large trees on our property, all but one of them drops leaves... so we have LOTS of leaves. Mike decided to start raking the leaves.... it was just too much, so he had a big pile and the kids jumped in!

Wednesday on the town

No pictures, left the camera at home. Took the kids to Portland and went to Casa Blanca Comics and the kids got some comic books and Magic cards. Then we got gelato at "Others", they have the best homemade gelato we have had so far. The cake batter is so good it tastes like vanilla frosting, but cool. Then on a whim we drove down to Kettle cove. Audrey, Logan, Sagan and Cae all climbed the rocks and walked thu the "forest", while Row and I gathered sea glass, sea shells and tossed rocks into the ocean. There were two boats just feet from the shore and we got so close, it was very neat. It was a very nice afternoon in mid fall here in Maine.

One day to the next

Yesterday it was cool in the upper 40's but sunny. The boys played outside quite a bit, running about in a magical fall wonderland. This morning we woke up to snow! So they are staying inside and playing "Magic the Gathering".

Logan and Lumpy in the leaves

Samhain (aka Halloween)

Unlike previous years where the children planned and planned their costumes, this year was very last minute. In fact things were finalized around 2 pm on Halloween day. And pumpkins were purchased at the farmer's market Saturday morning! Still, the kids got much good loot and had a great time. After the trick or treating we watched my favorite children's movie "My Neighbor Totoro" and while eating a popcorn ball Sagan actually lost one of his very loose teeth! Whoopie!
