Thoughts on Thursday... Putting my foot down

As fall begins to approach our schedule becomes more and more crowded  with classes, sports, playdates, park days, co-op, etc etc etc. I start feeling this tightness in my chest. The busyness of our lives seems overwhelming. There is not enough home time that I need to recharge. I love being out and about, but I also need to pull in and reset or I begin to fall apart. And the girlies, they need time to just be, to just play, not being shuttled around in the van for hours and hours. I need to find this balance. So, I'm putting my foot down, we have reached our max of things. Being on the go 4 out of the 5 weekdays with at least one thing is enough, that doesn't include weekend games, family visits, farmer's market. Goodness, maybe my foot needs to be put down firmer!

I don't think we can properly smell the roses, enjoy life, if we are running all over town. I need to be ok with not keeping up with everyone, saying no to just one more thing. Plus, if we are going to add one more thing, shouldn't it be a free time, running and playing at park? 

I guess my situation is different from a lot of my friends as I have lots of big kids and still 2 wee babes too. I can't forget that my big kids had home time, slow time, looking around and goofing off time. 

And honestly, it all has me on the phone more, and facebook more just trying to keep up. I want lazy days of knitting and watching the kids play. I want story books and drawing pictures, i want playing in the hose and naps. I need a house full of toddlers! haha

I think, just maybe, the knitting bug is back! I have made a few dishclothes and coasters, I worked on the never ending socks, and I knitted Nuala a Zsa hat while we were out of town... but now I am tackling a whole sweater!
I bought the pattern when it first came out and just never knit it. My holiday knit list is nice and long so I thought I better get cracking. I'm making the Sunday Sweater for Fiona using Knitpicks Wool of the Andes in Wonderland Heather. I need to get a few more skeins, but that is no big deal... because seriously is it ever a drama to have to buy more yarn??

So, not really a craft... BUT it is the newly organized crafty cupboard! So that sort of counts, right? Love being able to see everything all in one place. Although I do have 2 drawers full of yarn, it just doesn't feel like enough. Haha

In the garden

 Somehow, despite the high temps, the garden is still producing loads of goodies. Still more than we can eat alone, so I am able to share with the neighbors... which I love doing!
I keep forgetting to pick some squash blossoms and stuff them with local goat cheese. That is the plan for next week.
I keep hoping to see some hints of melons, but although the viney plants are growing like gang busters, there are few flowers and no fruit yet. Still, they make the garden look lovely and green.

Finally, finally was inspired. I think I am going to try to do a single crochet around the edge of the hand towels, or maybe just a blanket stitch?
I am also making dish clothes, but then thought... maybe costers? We need them with all the sweaty glasses of ice water being drank around here.
Still reading "Buddhism for Mothers" and still loving it so so much.
