Joining Amanda from The Habit of Being...
The weekend was spent cleaning the house in preparation for being gone for a few days up north. I just hate coming home to a mess.
I signed up last week for this "Get yourself organized" yahoo group to help with my inability to get myself together lately (although technically it is homeschool related, still I have to start someplace) and I actually feel good enough to do it, which means our few days up north, any moment I am not feeding a child, going on a hike or sneaking peeks at SyFy I will be getting my self together. It actually feels really good.
A friend stopped by for a quick visit, I haven't seen her in ages, it was so wonderful to sit and talk with her for a few hours.
Mike cleaned out the van, it is like a miracle... that thing was getting beyond disgusting, how does that happen so quickly, you would think I was raising monkeys or something.
And I shut down my Facebook account... again. I need to step away, fast and quick and just never go back. Yet, I am weak, still maybe this time it will stick and I will find myself just waaaay to busy actually living and no longer need this virtual world?? Maybe??
Right now, I hope we are happily up north frolicking in the cool mountain breezes and splashing in the lake.

Weekending
Our weekend was punctuated with RAIN RAIN RAIN! Glorious down pours, especially Sunday morning. The kids had such fun outside. It is always amazing to me that here in the desert when it FINALLY rains that so many people hole up in there houses and grumble. We have been waiting months for this rain. I was sure we were going to be passed over by the monsoon season and yet here it is lightening, thunder, wild winds, and rain.
We celebrated Cae's birthday number two with his sister, Derek, and Nana on Sunday afternoon. Had a great dinner and fun gifts and a decent cake. I do love baking, I just can't seem to always hit the nail on the head and get those baked goods just right, ah well, Cae loved it and that is what counts.

Crafting and Reading
Joining Ginny from Small Things and Nicole from Frontier Dreams for knitting, crafting and reading.
I ordered some fabric to make this wee little babe a quilt, a simple one, because honestly that is all I can manage on a sewing machine... simple straight lines. The larger owl print is for the back, it is a super soft flannel, so yummy, the rest are all various fun animal prints, I like the bright/light contrast of the top colors. So excited to get started on this project.
I am knitting yet another Puerperium baby cardi, this time in a Noro rainbow colorway. Someone else a few weeks ago on the Yarn Along was knitting one in Noro, and I just went right out and ordered a few skeins because it was so lovely. The yarn is a wee bit scratchy, I hope with a good soak it will soften up a bit. I also wish we lived someplace with a bit more chill in the winter, I am knitting all these baby goodies that are great if you lived someplace where it got down to 20 for a few months, oh well, this wee bundle will just have to have a new sweater on every day.
And a wee bit of reading, some for me and some for Fiona and Rowan. They just love Blueberries for Sal and Emily and Daisy. I probably read those 3 times a day.

Weekending
This weekend was busy, in a good way. One of Logan's oldest and dearest friends was here for a few days, such a great thing for Logan to have a buddy to make music with, laugh with, and be a complete goofball with. We had an early birthday celebration for Caelan at my parents house, there was much swimming, cake eating and gift opening, and we get to do it all again next weekend too, on his actual birthday. Sunday we went to a friends "Shin-dig" which was soooo fabulous. So nice to see all the men folk around, the kids playing, everyone talking and laughing and drink sangrias. Loads of yummy snacks, and treats, and we left late and the kids were tired. It was heavenly.

Weekending
Joining Amanda from The Habit of Being.
This weekend was spent watching a lot of Van Halen videos on Youtube, Fiona LOVES David Lee Roth, go figure. I got bit by the knitting bug again and whipped out a baby hat and finished up three projects that were waiting patiently for me to get inspired again, so glad I did.
Sunday was spent with family celebrating my oldest child, my oldest daughter's 19th birthday. Made LOTS of no bake pies. Yum yum.
Maybe, possibly, there could be an end in sight to this morning sickness, I have been feeling this overpowering need to clean stuff really well. Who knows, maybe this week the toys will be reorganized, the bedrooms gone through, and the pantry cleaned up... or maybe I will nap some more and eat cheesecake.

~ I am grateful for my oldest daughter who turns 19 today. What an amazing, beautiful soul she is. I feel blessed every day that she chose us to be with. She has grown into such a lovely young woman, so confident, strong, and smart. Happy Birthday to my girlie.
~ Trader Joe's for having somewhat healthy alternatives to nasty fast food and frozen dinners that seem to have become a staple around here, one day when I feel better we shall be eating well again, until then... Trader Joe's has been our savior
~ A patient and understand husband, who has picked up some serious slack around here
~ For having health insurance, we just got the first bill from Logan's surgery... my, oh, my is all I can say
~ For getting the knitting bug back, finished up three projects and started and finished a third
~ Maple trees for their yummy sap
~ For bird seed, love filling the feeder in the morning and watching all the crazy birds come flocking to the backyard to fill up
~ For pinterest, and all those yummy recipes to be found there

Yarn Along
Joining Ginny from Small Things for weekly Wednesday Yarn Along and Frontier Dreams for Keep Calm Craft On.
Back in the saddle. I finished those baby socks only to find I just didn't like the color pooling that happened, so I frogged both socks and just let the yarn sit there. I was feeling quite disgusted with the yarn. Except that I love the yarn. It is so happy and so soft, soooo I will give it another go.
I got a new book of comics by Heather Cushman-Dowdee, comics of Hathor the Cowgoddess back all the way from 2007. As always just a great book full of thought provoking comics and wonderful blurbs of insight. First thing I have read in a month, totally happy with that.

Weekending
taken by audrey |
The weather was crazy hot, I felt run down and depressed and just so done with the nausea and tiredness. We spent Saturday evening at my parents house swimming, having a bar-b-que and watching fireworks out in the front yard. Sunday was a complete day of laziness, which was just so nice. Mike even took all the littles to a comic book store (such a brave man) and I had about 30 minutes to myself... I watched Eureka on Netflix. And I don't want to jinx it, but I didn't feel like death warmed over on Sunday... nauseated, tired: yes, but calm, happy and just a little bit hopeful that this too shall pass.
