Crafting and reading

I have been wanting to make Fiona another Oliver and S simple skirt for weeks and weeks now. They literally take no time, maybe an hour and a half (and that is because I am so slow), and in the end you are rewarded with clothing! I can't remember what the fabric is, I know I won it on a blog give away awhile ago. It is a jersey cotton and just so soft. Fiona loves the skirt, and so do I.

I finished up Fiona's socks, the ones that will match Nuala's leg warmers... but I have no photo of them. I started on a wrap that I have plans to send to one of my cousins in Oregon. It is in the yarn I had planned on using for Audrey's Shalom sweater this past winter. But I just didn't like how it was turning out. Plus I have to be honest... we live in Arizona we really don't need wool sweaters, but my cousin could probably use a nice wool wrap. I am using Quince and Company "Puffin" in glacier. I am not a huge fan of this yarn, maybe other Quince and company yarn is super fabulous but I have not been very impressed, considering how everyone raves about their stuff. Maybe it is just the Puffin yarn.
I am trying to read "Angela's Ashes", but between doing my reading for my studies and just life the books seem to take a backseat. So far it is good, and I promised Audrey I would read it, so I shall.

Yesterday's sky

just before the rain

the rain

just after the rain
We don't get much rain here in Arizona, so when we do it is a big deal... at least in this household. The windows thrown open to let in the beautiful scent of rain, the kids run outside barefoot and free to soak up even a few minutes of the drizzle. It is always a celebration.

I meant to have a photo of my knitting, but some how this week I just never took a picture of it. Still working on Fiona's socks, almost done with sock number 2. Discovered that Nuala doesn't like me to eat gluten, so I have been doing without... which is probably for the best, still I miss cake and cookies. I am a sucker for the sweetness.
My oldest son turned 16 on Sunday. 16!? That boy who fills me up, knocks me over, and just blows me away. The universe has great plans for him, I think. He is truly something else. We went to a school function on Saturday and watched him and a friend play guitars, most amazing.
I feel as if most of my time is spent sitting, nursing and just being. It gives me time to think, a lot of time to think. What is it I want, what do I see happening here in this life of mine, what plans do I wish to make? I don't have the answers yet, but that is ok, there is so much time to roll it over in my mind.

Weekend and Gratitude

nuala 6 weeks old

This has been such an amazing weekend. Blue skies, sunshine, lovely breezes. Errands run with the wee babe on Saturday turned out wonderfully. Happy people, surprises purchased, and someone bought my coffee at Starbucks. How awesome is that?? The day ended with a wonderful BBQ and dinner out on the back patio watching the sunset.
Sunday we got up early-ish, picked up bagels and headed to the lake for a walk.

I am grateful for:

~ A tidy back yard
~ BBQ and eating outside
~ Dear friends visiting
~ Cae and Row and all their drawings and stories
~ Sagan discovering a love of math
~ Texting
~ Sweet little Nuala
~ Hugs from my kids
~ Saying YES
~ A full pantry, fridge, and feezer
~ Yogurt

Crafting and reading

I haven't been blogging much, days have been flying by and there just doesn't seem to be time. My crafting (read that as knitting) has been placed on the waaaay back burner, although I have been feeling the pull to work  on something again. I promised Fiona a pair of socks to match the leg warmers I had knitted wee little Nuala and have been ever so slowly working on them. They are coming again slowly but surely. And in this amazing yarn which I can't remember what it is called, but I am pretty sure I got I from Knitpicks.
I have been reading Donna Ashton's book on Waldorf homeschooling, it is pretty good. I am enjoying it because I can read a bit and put it down and feel OK with that.

Truthful Tuesday

This is what I have been doing... gazing at my sweet babe. As much as I can. Holding her, smooching her, nursing her, sleeping with her. She is such a sweet little blessing. So happy she is here with us.

Nuala turned three weeks old on friday

Fiona sleeping with her snack bowl
I have been meaning to blog more, but somehow the days just get away from me. Plus, I am honestly too lazy to down load all the pictures. I really haven't been doing much but nursing Nuala and watch Warehouse 13 on Netflix. I am feeling a bit more in the swing of life now, three weeks of chillin' was good for me. And I must say if you can, get your placenta turned into pills and take those. I have been feeling about 100 times better after Nuala's birth because of those magic pills.
This Saturday was spent cozy inside for the most part. The temps were in the low 60's and we had RAIN. Glorious, wonderful rain. It had been 71 days since our last drop of moisture. The kids went out in the rain just about every time the sky opened up with a burst of rain. I had extra laundry to do, but totally worth it.
Today, Sunday, shall be spent planning some fun stuff to do on the schooling front, and maybe a bit of sock knitting. I promised Fiona another pair of socks weeks ago.
