Yarn Along

what i am reading
Sadly my camera is having serious issues. Which is a bummer because there is always so much to photograph here.
I downloaded a photo of the book I am reading. I still have no photo of the Tomten jacket I am working on.
The jacket is coming along well, but I am at a tricky spot. Maybe some can help me... when do you start the arm holes? there really are no directions. Just the amount you cast off/put on a stitch holder. Do you start them so they are right under the arm pit? or a few inches below the arm pit? I have been knitting and knitting, but I want to make the jacket a bit big so Fiona can wear it for a couple years (maybe) so if it is right to the armpit that I knit then I have a good 5 more inches, but if it isn't then I maybe I have 3 inches more.
I have some fun holiday knitting ahead of me. I am planning on making Logan a pair of fingerless gloves (with actual finger holes, not the mitt type like last year) with this awesome fun/funky self striping sock yarn. I think they will look really great. I am also planning on knitting Cae a sweater vest from "More Last Minute Knitted Gifts" it is in the 6-8 hour jobs, but I am sure it will take me at least 10 or maybe 12 hours. I am going to use some of the yarn I bought for Fiona's Tomten Jacket, I sort of went wild buying it and I have waaaay too much yarn. Plus he also has lovely blues eyes and that blue will just look amazing on him.
I am reading "It Start's with Food" it is the companion book for the Whole30 diet which Mike and I are on right now. I have to say the book seems right on target, it is easy to read, funny at times and pretty honest about our S.A.D. diet (ok, so I said diet twice, lol). We have been on the Whole30 for a week now and I feel so good. I am not hungry all the time and I am eating alot of fresh fruit and vegetable. I realized last week (when we started) that I mindlessly eat junk all day, even if I say it is made with organic stuff and homemade. Like last week I made the kids coffee cake for breakfast and on day three I threw out the stale leftovers. There was 1/3 of the cake left after 3 days. Usually it would be gone in one afternoon... me eating 75% of it. Pretty shocking for me to see/realize.

I have not heard of the Whole30 before, but now you have me very interested. Maybe this is something my Mike and I could do, especially since it has you eating lots of fruits and vegetables.

Definitely will have to check that out. Thanks for recommending it. Have you read the American Way of Eating? I just started it...

Okay. The tomten has an unusual construction. It is hard to describe here. Just follow the instructions as they are written. Don't overthink it. She basically has you knit the body then the sleeve, but they are set into the sweater a bit.

Oh, camera troubles are so exasperating. I feel at an utter loss without my camera. And my knitting needles. And my kids. So, the Tomten jacket, I've been considering trying the pattern. This must be a sign :-)

I just googled the tomten jacket, it looks adorable! I may have to put that on the list for my 2 yr old...

I will have to look for this book and more infor on the Whole30 diet. Sounds very good and healthy. Your knitting projects also sound really intereseting, even without pictures. I understand about your camera. It can be so frustrating when there are pictures to take (or upload) and the camera is not working right. Enjoy the rest of your week.

Cannot wait to see the jacket! Don't you just hate it when your camera is down?

That diet sounds awesome. I'm looking froward to hearing how you get on. We did the 'Clean' detox a while ago. It really did end up changing the way we eat. I just can't seem to give up my Sourdough though!
